Why I Do This Work
I came to my practice after over 10 years of experience in social services and community mental health, where I served in what many people call “the front line” of the social work sector. My experience has ranged from crisis line operator, sexual assault advocate in non-profit and college settings, and a Mental Health Program Manager at a houseless services organization. I’ve also facilitated trauma support groups, served as a therapist for unhoused survivors of violence, and worked alongside staff at a family homeless shelter.
Moving forward from my burnout and vicarious trauma in these contexts, I began seeking emerging research and theory to help make sense of me and my co-workers’ experiences. I also sought out consultation from licensed clinicians and began recording and organizing my own clinical observations. This journey of learning about healing and wellness culminated into the robust and customizable consultation and training content that I offer today.
